NOW TESTAMENT: Central Church's Ministry to Youth

The NOW Testament is not just another set of programs to
keep students engaged and entertained. We strongly
believe in ministry with the students, not at them.
The story behind the name is simple. We are all familiar
with the Old and New Testaments of God’s Word. But what
about NOW? Have you discovered your part in God’s story?
That’s our heartbeat, helping students discover God’s
amazing story and see His plan for how they fit into it.

9:15 a.m. is time set aside for Bible Fellowship
Class. Classes are available for Junior High
students, (7th & 8th grade) and Senior High
Students (9th-12th grade). Both classes meet upstairs
in the youth area.
House
Church
starts at 5:00 p.m. and brings church home! Students
meet with their peers at the Youth Pastor’s home near
the church. Sponsors lead outreach, teaching and
prayer utilizing multiple media options. All students
gather afterwards at a pre-determined restaurant to
eat and hang out. Everyone returns to the church by
8:00 p.m. for parent pick up. Every time there is a
5th Sunday in a month, we forego House Church and
spend the afternoon in service either to a church
member or to the community.
From 7:00-8:15 p.m. is our Wednesday night service
called Rhythm. The evening is designed to give
students a chance to get to know one another, be
involved in praise and worship, serve in some
capacity in youth ministry and have a lot of fun!
Doors open at 6 for early arrivers and pick up is
expected by 9:00 p.m. From 6:00-7:00 p.m., our drama
troupe refines their acting skills and rehearsing
skits for various audiences.
The NOW Testament mans the coffee bar “Kaffee Shoppe”
located in the atrium of the Family Life Center.
Please stop by any Sunday morning or Wednesday
evening and support the youth ministry. Students earn
income from the profit of the coffee bar and apply it
to the youth group trip of their choice.
Students have pretty full calendars these days.
Being mindful of that, our top priority is
prayerfully scheduling events that will have a
lasting impact. Below are our major annual events.
Mpact Crew
A short term, usually 1 week, trip to enable students
to encounter life outside the norm.
Oxygen
Week
Not
your typical summer camp experience, but more like a
youth conference where students can choose tracks
emphasizing their gifts and interests. Worship, fun,
relationships and learning are the focal points of
Oxygen Week.
District
Fall Retreat
An
annual favorite long weekend bringing students from
across the Northeast district together. This event is
held in Northeast Oklahoma in November.
Ignition
A new addition to our list! Ignition is a full
weekend of events geared to help students get into
focus for the new year. Awesome speakers, worship,
prizes and games start the year off right.
Thrill
Seekers Week
A Spring Break guaranteed to re-energize school
soaked students! Whether on the slopes or on the
beach, Spring Break with a spiritual twist meets the
needs of weary students.
Resident
Alien Resident
Since Area 51 is off base for most of us, we take the
students for a long weekend of reflection mixed with
friendship and fun.
Naz
Nite
A fast paced trip to Six Flags Over Texas in Ft.
Worth, where students and families from all over our
region basically take over Six Flags on the Friday
before Labor Day.
Extravaganza
Display your gifts and talents at this annual
regional event for students in grades 7-12. Friends
from several states gather at SNU in Bethany,
Oklahoma, to compete academically, in the arts and on
the field. Extravaganza is held each Spring. These
events, coupled with concerts, impromptu
get-togethers, a few cool fundraisers and our weekly
services help give students a place for friendship
and growth in Christ.
