Lead Pastor: John Whitsett
Pastor
John Whitsett began his ministry at Tulsa Central in January
2007 after twenty years of pastoral ministry in the Church of
the Nazarene.
John
grew up in the Kansas City and Oklahoma City areas and
attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma,
graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion in
1980. It was there he met and married his wife Angie, a
native of Nacogdoches, Texas. John furthered his education at
Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, earning the
Master of Divinity degree in 1986.
Upon
graduation, they moved to the south suburbs of the metro
Dallas area and gave three-plus years to planting the Ovilla
Road Church of the Nazarene. They then moved to the Bay Area
of California to pastor Cambrian Park Church of the Nazarene
in San Jose for six years, and on to Raleigh, North Carolina,
where he served North Raleigh Church of the Nazarene for
eleven years.
John and Angie are the parents of two sons—Kevin is a Music
Education major at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville,
Tennessee and Collin attends and runs track and cross country
at Union High School. They are also the caretakers of Buddy
and Cassie—two of the laziest, but most loving, dogs you’ll
ever meet.
